J40 1960-1984

ASSEMBLY : Toyota City, Japan
UNITS PRODUCED : ~300,000

PREDECESSOR : J20 Land Cruiser
SUCCESSOR : J50 Land Cruiser

The Toyota J40 Land Cruiser was an iconic 4-wheel drive off-road vehicle produced in Japan from 1960-1984. It featured body-on-frame construction and a classic 2-door design, which was slightly larger than the legendary Jeep CJ models. The J40 was the successor to the J20 Land Cruiser, which was based on earlier military models. Production numbers are unclear, but estimates are around 300,000, which make the J40s a well sought-after collectors item today.
