ASSEMBLY : Wayne, MI, USA
UNITS PRODUCED : 225,500

PREDECESSOR : None
SUCCESSOR : Ford Bronco Second-Gen

The first-generation Ford Bronco was designed as a competitor to the Jeep CJ-5 and the Toyota Land Cruiser. It was marketed as a civilian off-roader, and was one of the first examples of a 'Sports Utility' vehicle. It featured body-on-frame construction and four-wheel-drive was standard. It was available in multiple body types including the Wagon, the Sports Utility (with a pickup-style bed) and the Roadster (no top or doors). The Bronco sold well, and it's still in production today with the sixth-generation model, introduced in 2021.
