FORD M-151

Mutt
1959 - 1988

A.K.A. Military Utility Tactical Truck

ASSEMBLY: Detroit, MI, USA
UNITS PRODUCED: > 100,000

The M-151 Mutt was the successor to the Willys M38-A1, and was the first military jeep to feature an integrated body design and coil suspension. It was designed and initially produced by Ford Motors, but subsequent contracts were also granted to Kaiser and AMC. As such, its distinctive grille features horizontal slots because Jeep retained the copyright to the vertical-slot design of previous military jeeps. The M-151 enjoyed a production run longer than all previous military jeeps combined, with over 100,000 units produced between 1959 and 1988.
