JEEP XJ

Cherokee
1984 - 1986

ASSEMBLY: Toledo, OH, USA
UNITS PRODUCED: 320,000

The XJ Cherokee was the first non-military off-road vehicle featuring a fully integrated body-and-frame design. It continued the nameplate of the original SJ Wagoneer, but the XJ was smaller and lighter thanks to a ladder-boxed chassis combined with a monocoque unit. The XJ was offered in a 2-door and 4-door version, each having the same wheelbase and track measurements. Jeep initially marketed the XJ as a 'Sportwagon', and throughout the years it spawned many competitors due to its versatility and popularity.
