DJ Jeeps were referred to as Dispatcher jeeps, hence the ‘D’ in the prefix. The DJ-5 was a modified CJ-5 Universal with 2 wheel drive. It's sub-model, the DJ-5 Dispatcher, had a unique 5-slot grille which bumped out from the front of the hood to accommodate a larger engine. The DJ-5 Dispatcher is best known as a US Postal Service delivery vehicles in the 1970s, and for an electric version, dubbed the 'Electruck'.
